Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
Soffits, fascias and barge boards run along every roofline, and a loose board or small gap is all it takes for a nest to be built behind them.
If someone at home is allergic to stings, spotting a nest early and keeping everyone away from it matters even more, and the booking should say so from the start.
A nest is small and quiet in spring and large and defensive by late summer, so the same nest poses very different risks depending on the month.
Choosing a gentler tool does not make cutting a nest safe, but it does explain why some people get away with it and others do not.
People who work at home are often the first to hear a wasp nest, because a steady hum or rustle in the wall comes through the quiet of a working day.
