Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
If a wasp nest turns up on a day when the children are at home, a few simple household rules keep everybody safe until the technician arrives.
Reaching a nest under the eaves usually means a ladder, one hand free and a colony overhead, which is why the fall can be a bigger danger than the sting.
Wasp season follows a fairly steady pattern from the first nests in late April to the autumn decline, and knowing the calendar helps you decide when to act.
A single wasp sting is sore rather than serious for most people, but knowing what normal looks like helps you spot the rare cases that need urgent help.
A one-day clock for a typical treatment, from the morning phone call through the technician’s visit to the quiet evening that usually follows, with honest hedging on timings.
