Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
With children at home and a dog or cat underfoot, the priority is keeping everyone away from the hatch and the affected rooms until a technician has been.
Metal and composite cladding, roller shutters and gaps at roof level give wasps hidden spaces, and a unit manager often sees the traffic long before finding the nest.
A vent built to let air into a wall is also a ready-made doorway for wasps, and knowing which one is active saves a lot of guesswork.
As summer ends, wasps often seem more persistent around food and drink, and a large nest is at its most defensive, so extra care is needed.
The urge to knock a nest down is natural and nearly always unwise; this guide explains why leaving it alone makes the timeline shorter and the outcome safer.
